Tachyon Browser Alpha Aims to Bring Modern Web to AmigaOS 3

Developer Francisco Antonio Tapias Bravo, known as FreeMEM, is developing a new web browser for AmigaOS 3 called Tachyon, currently at an alpha stage. In a blog post he explains the project aims to let modern websites run within a Workbench MUI window, tackling the HTTPS, Flexbox, Grid and JavaScript requirements that typically overwhelm classic Amiga systems. The browser uses NetSurf's Hubbub parser to build a full DOM tree, converts TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 fonts for Amiga use, and implements modern CSS features such as calc(), :has() and animations. It also includes a QuickJS-based JavaScript engine supporting ES2023, DOM, fetch and XMLHttpRequest, reportedly running frameworks like Next.js and GSAP, along with HTTPS support via AmiSSL 5.
