Pixel art full-length portrait of the person behind Retro Game Wire, standing with hands in pockets

Hi, I’m the person behind Retro Game Wire. I’m European and an avid retro gamer.

I still have my original Commodore 64C, Mega Drive, Game Boy and Nintendo 64, plus a lot of other retro consoles, including the NES, SNES, GameCube, PC Engine, Vectrex, PS1, PS2, PS3 and more. I play modern games too, on a Steam Deck and a Steam Machine. Beyond games, I love arcade games, Lego, fixing old hardware and the Evercade.

Why this site exists

Retro gaming news is spread across dozens of small sites, blogs and communities. Retro Game Wire brings it together in one place: Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga, arcade, Atari, Sega, Nintendo, PlayStation, homebrew, new releases, hardware and more. Pick your system from the menu, or browse day by day with Daily Stories and the News archive.

How the stories are made

Every story starts on another site. I choose which sites to follow, a script checks them for new stories, and each one gets a short summary written with the help of AI. The summary is brief on purpose: it credits the site the story came from (“via …”) and links straight to the original, which is where the full details are.

AI can get things wrong. If you spot a mistake, please tell me through the Contact page.
