Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal information Retro Game Wire (retrogamewire.com) handles when you visit the site or contact us. Last updated 21 September 2026.

Who we are

Retro Game Wire is a retro gaming news site. It is run by Retro Game Wire and you can contact us at [email protected].

Visiting the site

You do not need an account to read the site, and there are no comments, forms or advertising on it. The site does not set cookies of its own and does not load fonts, scripts, images or other content from third-party services. Story images are stored on this site, so viewing them does not contact any other site.

Like every website, the systems that deliver the site record technical details of each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is done by our hosting provider and by Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site. We use this only to keep the site running and secure, and our legal basis is our legitimate interest in doing so. We do not use it to identify or profile individual visitors. Cloudflare may set a security-related cookie in some circumstances.

Counting visits

To see how many people read the site, we use Koko Analytics, a tool that runs on this site’s own server, not a third-party service. When a page is viewed it records only that the page was viewed and, if you arrived from another website, the address of that website. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address and does not identify or track individual visitors. What is kept is daily totals for the site, for each page and for each website that sent visitors, for up to 36 months. We use these totals to understand what is read and to run the site, and our legal basis is our legitimate interest in doing so.

If you email us

If you write to [email protected] we receive your email address and whatever you tell us. We use it only to reply and to deal with your message, for example a correction or removal request, and we keep it only as long as needed for that. Mail sent to this address is received through Cloudflare Email Routing and read in Google’s Gmail.

Who else handles data

  • Namecheap, our website hosting provider.
  • Cloudflare, for DNS, security, speed and email routing.
  • Google, for the Gmail inbox that receives our mail.

Some of these providers are based in the United States and may process data outside the European Economic Area, using the safeguards described in their own privacy policies. We do not sell personal information.

Links to other sites

Our stories link to the original reports on other websites. Once you leave this site, the privacy practices of the site you go to apply, not this policy.

Your rights

Under data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or stop using it. To do any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in Ireland this is the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Changes

If we add anything that collects personal information, such as advertising or a different analytics tool, we will update this page first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
