Xbox Says Recompiled PC Ports Are Shaping Its Strategy

A report states that Xbox is aware of the growing trend of fan recompilation projects that bring older console games to PC, and that this is affecting the company's thinking about its future. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma referenced decompiled and recompiled games when announcing Xbox Labs, an experimental division exploring new technologies. Recompilation converts a game's compiled code into a form that can run on hardware it was never built for, and has recently been used to bring Xbox 360 and PS3-era titles to PC and mobile devices, a trend partly driven by advances in AI-assisted tooling. via purexbox.com
